Unilever CFO to Oversee Supply Chain in Operational Overhaul

Unilever announced on Monday that CFO Fernando Fernandez will assume expanded responsibilities, including oversight of supply chain and procurement. This move is part of a broader operational restructuring aimed at prioritizing the company’s leading brands. Fernandez will also oversee digital, technology, and business services, and receive a 7.5% fixed pay raise.

This expansion of the CFO’s role follows the appointment of Reginaldo Ecclissato, current chief business operations and supply chain officer, as president of One Unilever Markets. Ecclissato will report directly to the CEO. These changes will become effective January 1st.

Unilever, with approximately 400 brands globally, has been actively refining its operations to concentrate on its top 30 “power” brands. The company is streamlining its business, particularly in Europe. This strategic shift is evident in Unilever’s March announcement of plans to spin off its ice cream division, which includes brands like Magnum and Ben & Jerry’s.

Willem Uijen, currently chief procurement officer, will transition to the role of chief supply chain officer, reporting to Fernandez. These organizational adjustments position Unilever to enhance its focus on key brands and optimize its global operations. The changes reflect a strategic shift towards greater efficiency and market responsiveness. The company aims to strengthen its position in the consumer goods sector by leveraging its strongest assets.
